Down at ‘du Nord: Elizabeth and the Catapult

Last night I went to check out up-and-coming Brooklyn band Elizabeth and the Catapult at Cafe du Nord, and was thoroughly entertained to see them coming to terms with their small rise, almost giddy to close their first tour out west with the modest-but-full crowd in the bohemian basement.
We had the pleasure of having Elizabeth’s mom sitting above our right shoulder and so all-in-all it was a pretty accepting crowd. While I’m a fan of the single “Taller Children” off their debut album, I have to say that I’d rather see them go the direction of the funkier “Tell me in the morning” (video below) which for some reason did not find itself on their album, nor last night’s show. That being said, they gained some points with a soulful cover of “I’m so tired”. Check em out
